The Zappy Turbo is the latest product offering from Zap. We were impressed
with the features of the Zappy Turbo. The Turbo has two speeds: Cruise
(15 mph) and Turbo (18 mph). The Turbo offers an exceptional combination of
spped and power and is great for adults, collge kids, and older children.
With the amount of speed, we would recommend this scooter for only experienced
riders and would not give this scooter to young children. Moreover, Zap has
doen a great job in making this scooter visually appealing. With brand new
body parts for the scooter and additions to the board, the Zappy Turbo is a
real head turner. The first product run was sold out in a matter of days
due to the exceptional demand for these scooters. The price on the Zappy
Turbo is somewhat high, at $699. While the price tag does exclude some
buyers, this is a powerful, well-made scooter. Given Zap's exceptional
track record of quality and reliability, we would expect nothing less from
this new offering.

The ZAPPY II electric scooters is the latest version of the Zappy from Zap.
Like the original Zappy, the Zappy II features a bigger board making it easy
for larger children and adult to ride on. The manufacturer has made a number
of improvements to the Zappy; many of them stylistic. The board has been made
so it is easier to stand on. The colorations are different and more modern
as the manufacturer has responed to the market and moved away from simple
colors, dropped the orange option, and come out with a visually attractive
line of scooter. Morover, the motor is stronger and fasterand has cooling
fins. Ithe injection molded body is stronger with better fit and finish.
There is also a new rear wheel with a wider belt and a arger, mored durable
throttle handle. The grip tape on the deck also improves traction. Overall,
the Zappy II appears to be a very reliable scooter as there have been few
complaints with this one. In terms of performance, the Zappy II offers the
same feature as the Zappy: 13 mph top speed, 8 miles on battery charge, and
4-6 hours for recharge (fast charger option is available). The Zappy II is
made for street use and we have found it to be particularly effective for
city commutes. The speed assocaited with the Zappy, may make it a little bit
too fast for smaller children. The scooter easily folds down and can be
carried effectively. The scooter is somewhat heavy for carying, but compared
to scooter of coparable speed and performance, this scooter is exceptionally
light. The one problem with the Zappy is that it is about 1 inch two big to
meet the maximum carry on requirements for most airlines. Overall, this is a
scooter that we recommend and is a good value at $399 (see comparable scooters
for $500).

The Razor Mini E represents Razor's new, low cost electric scooter offering.
The Mini E is roughly the same size as Razor's kick scooters and is
definately very compact. The scooter will go up to 8 miles on one battery
charge - which is enough for many scooter outings. The battery charge time
leaves a little to be desired at 3 hours. However, the battery is easy to
charge and can be plugged into the wall. The razor Mini E also runs on a
smaller motor. It has a top speed of around 8 miles per hour, making it
somwhat slower than other offerings. The other small drawback to the Razor
Mini E is the wheel size - the smaller wheel size may make it necessary to
replace wheels a little more frequently, however they still appear to last
for a good deal of time. Moreover, the small wheel size makes it necessary
to avoid large cracks or grooves in the pavement.
The Razor Mini E is essentially a converted kick scooter with a small motor
added. Kids will find it easy to go from a kick scooter to the Mini E. In
our opinion, the Razor Mini E is the perfect electric scooter for slightly
younger children. The lower top speeds make this scooter a safer bet than
other electric scooters. Moreover, its compact size makes it easier to ride
and manuever for younger kids. The Razor Mini E also appears to be a great
electric scooter for beginners because of the aforementioned features.
Moreover, the cost is quite reasonable at just under $200. This low price
point allows a beginner to purchase a brand name electric scooter at a
reasonable price. All in all, we feel that the low price point for the Razor
Mini E presents a lot of value for the scooter buyer.

The 131 E Battery Powered Scooter from Razor is the company's initial foray
into electric scooter development. This electric scooter, like many other
electric scooters is compact, and lightweight. The 131 E has a top speed of
just over 10 miles per hour - this gives a scooter rider a little bit more
speed than the Razor Mini E, along with a more powerful motor. One of nicest
features of the 131 E is the fact that the battery can be removed and the
scooter used as a kick scooter. The 131 E has a nice brake feature and a lot
of extras that give this electric scooter a sleek design. The 2.5 hour charge
time is better than the Mini E. We have found the Razor electric to be a
reliable scooter, not a large track record of complaints.
The safety features on the 131 E are quite helpful - the motor automatically
shuts off when the brake is applied and won't engage unless the speed gets up
to 3 mph. We regard the 131 E as a great scooter for beginning to intermediate
riders. Like all Razor scooters, its size is compact and it can be easily
carried or transported onto a bus, train, or car. The price point on the 131
E is reasonable - just over $300. This pricing makes sense for an intermediate
rider that is interested in a compact motorized scooter. The control on this
is great and the extra features make this a good buy for intermediate riders.

The Citybug E-2 is comparable in preformance and feautres to the Razor 131 E.
Like the Razor, it is compact and lightweight. Moreover, the Citybug goes up
to 10 mph and also gets about 10 miles on a battery charge. The Citybug also
has the same safety feautes as the Razor 131 E (see the paragraph above).
Since the Citybug is not as well known of a brand as Razor, the Citybug often
sells at a much lower price point than comparable Razor electric scooters.
This means that it is possible to pick up a fully featured scooter at a more
than reasonable price.
